So who’s this Cam guy?
So yeah you probably already know my name is Cam and I could try and make this super professional but that’s not really me either. Truth is that I just like to have fun, and to simplify what I do to its purest form I capture really special moments. I was always the one with a camera in hand, it started with family vacations and I could share some of those photos but I don’t know if they should see the light of day… the point is that I look at things a little differently. To me it comes down to creating a feeling, using light, colours, expressions, and the environment to produce a certain “vibe”.
I started my own creative journey in 2016 with my Canon T6i and man what a body that was! I spent the first year just learning how to shoot manual and actually use the camera. With the help of the great YouTube Academy and many hours of trial and error I figured it out. It wasn’t until March 2019 that I landed my first big gig and discovered it could be more than just a hobby and I didn’t have to shoot just landscapes and portraits of friends. I was brought in to shoot headshots for an entire 80 person real estate team and shoot a large scale event with high profile speakers Downtown Vancouver… I looked at my T6i with horror because I knew it wouldn’t do the job… poor thing would have a heart attack. So I upgraded to my Sony A7iii (I still shoot with this by the way).
From there it evolved into shooting all kinds of things, social media content for agencies, hanging out of a moving jeep shooting super cars, real estate, branding, landscapes, weddings, engagements, etc. Being PNW based everything is moody all the time (still working on that part…)
Then I stopped… I put my camera down for over a year and didn’t touch it, I lost the drive the passion and it felt foreign to even hold. It wasn’t until my life did a complete 180 and flip turned upside down that I found the passion and love for it again. Getting out into nature, exploring and back to where I started some 8 years ago felt right. My style, passion, skills, and personal growth all developed over those 8 years to bring me to where I am today. I am proud to call myself an Adventure Photographer. I use the power of capturing moments in time to tell stories, inspire, educate, and most of all share what living a life full of adventure is all about.
